Eleanor we have been working on

We have been working on this for a long time and we finally have color on the body and Brian finished buffing.

Looks good. I've got a 68 coupe I want to turn into a fastback and make it similar to "Eleanor". I see you kept the regular tail panel but have the gas cap on the quarter. What are you putting where the original gas cap was?

I noticed the same thing, but the car looks great. Looks like you favor the mustang croud in your shop.

There is a fiberglass taillight panel that covers the original taillight panel. They come with or without the gas filler hole we had to fill this one in.

Ok I see all the Eleanor kits come with fg tail panels. I figured they went over the original but also figured there'd be cutting involved to fit the tail lights. Do you need to cut the original tail panel?

Very nice looking car. But it always confuses me why people smooth the vents and flares into the car. The movie car did NOT do this. They all had distinct lines where you could tell the GT500 stuff was added on.

It's subtle but always noticeable about the knockoffs.
Also the real fender flares are "thinner" and look nicer to me.

I think she spent an awful lot of time and hard earned money to make her dream car; if she acheived that then bieng concours correct is irrelevant. At any rate I respect your eye for detail.

Oh I agree. It's not so much an eye for detail as much as an insane obsession with the car. I've spoken to many, many owners of cars like this one, and I've never met one that knew what "Elenore" really looked like. They don't know about the hood, the "tacked on" shelby bits, and the subtle things that made the movie car the movie car. Read this article on a guy who got every possible detail down to a science.

Again, and I cannot stress this enough, I'm not trying to take anything away from this person's car. I'm trying to educate is all. There's a good chance she doesn't even know her car is "wrong" and she may not care. More power to her. But having a car like this will draw people like me to it. It's part of owning a famous car, and a mantle they picked up by choice.

here's that car's build thread on SVTPerformance

Well put. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." In fact I would find it very hard to avoid copying many aspects of your car given I were to build a Corvair. As a lurker on the forum yours is one of many I give celebrity status.

I wish I was at a stage in life where I could come and sweep your floors for a month just to watch how you do things. Top-notch work, I have been following the build on SPI's forum as well.

Reliable Carriers was scheduled to up pick up and take her home to Ohio on 1/2/14 so we worked through the holidays. We were here on New Years day from 7:30 - 7:00 and she was ready for pickup but they never showed up or called.

It is hard to get a good picture she looks a lot better in person

Car looks good, but I have to agree with the person who said that he liked the car without the kit being moulded in.
I guess it a lot more work to make the fender flares fit properly like the movie cars because of the poor fit of the kit being sold, and thats why people tend to mould in those flares.

But anyway, everyone should do what they think looks best...

Looks great! I like the smoothed lines but also like the "modular" look of the movie car. The popularity of the Eleanor car makes me wonder why no one has ever produced a quality piece like that for the 67-68 Camaro. I know Tyler was attempting to but it never happened.
