      Power steering pump overflowing.

A friend tested his chevelle -66 on the track this weekend.
There was overheating/pressure in the power steering pump.
      Oil all over the place.
Engine is a LS1 with the original(LS1) power steering pump and pulleys.
Steering box from a Jeep Cherokee.
Car works great on the street, but when driving more agressive, heat and overpressure builds up.
Do You think the pump and steering box will match together, or do I have make an adjustment?
I guess a Camaro or Corvette doesn´t have this problem when driving hard, ....or?

A cooler will help. I bought a 5"x8" from Summit and it really helps.

Last year at every event I went to, I was boiling fluid and pushing it out.

I have a SBC with a new DSE GM type 2 style pump now, and it performs great.

The only problem i have now, is fluid comes past the cap at about 5500 rpm and over.

If i had to do it all over, i would use a Sweet or KRC pump.

Unfortunately I can't tell you if there's a volume/pressure mismatch with the box, however I can verify the 4th Gen F-body's suffer from PS overheating. The SS comes standard with a power steering cooler placed in one of the radiator hoses. It's function is marginal at best, but it is there.

X2. Decent sized plate style ps cooler should fix your problem.

camaros have a weird cooler built into the upper radiator hose and when most do the swap, a cooler never gets put back on, a small stack plate cooler will help greatly
