      Where to get an LS-3

Where to get a good used LS-3 that doesn't cost the same price as a new one or more?

having tried to source an LSA or an LS3 i found it made more economic sense to but the crate motors. The junk yards ect want to sell the whole thing, accessories ect for 6-10K for me since the accessories don't work for me and I want more power/better trans.. its not worth it. If you want to put a stock ls2 and can use the accessories and trans then it can get close to being a good route.

you shroud be able to pick up a sub 50K Mile LS2 with six spped + harness and accessories in the 5K range..

How many hp are you shooting for? I found a block and heads on ls1tech, pieced together fbody accessories and oil pan, cam and found a gmpp harness here. I am probably 3k into that. Another 2k into the stroker roatating assembly and probably 3k into machine work. It took me about two years to score all of those parts. Might have been cheaper and certainly quicker to buy a crate motor.

I build em all the time let me know if ya want a qoute there normally 8500 to 10000 with new gm blocks and are 416ci depending on heads used and how crazy you want it, and what your doing with it.

Those are good deals. Knowing what I know now, the parts will nickel and dime you on these engines. I will have a cammed stroker for just a hair over what I could have bought that crate for so I am happy for more cubes and the cam of my choice, but I have a lot of time invested in hunting down deals. That 480hp crate motor may be on the list for a future project.

The crate is nice and 95% cheaper than most junkyards and I dont need the acc either. But I hate to pull a cam out of a new engine to put in another cam. I dont want to go to a car show and there is 6 other guys with the same engine lol. But the crate is a great engine.

Those hot cams should bring some return on investment if you decide to swap the cam. I would imagine that the 480 and 525 HP crate versions come with upgraded springs.

I may be in for a group buy in the 480 or 525 HP LS3 as well. That’s a pretty good deal. Keep me in the loop.
