      Steering box question

      I am not sure where this should go so please move if I posted in wrong location. I just got a DSE steering box for my 67 Chevelle. I am wandering if there are any fittings that would allow me to use my stock lines with the new box or do I need to spring for the new pump and hoses?

      Yes there are 45 degree flare to Saginaw metric adapters that screw into your new box.

      Are you going to Autocross / track it?
      If so, and your pump is from 67, I would file 13 it.

      Even the small Goodguys peanuts overheated my box / pump / fluid.

      I went with a new Lee 800 box with 12:1 & DSEs type 2 pump. I also added a small (5x8) cooler as well.
      This setup works great.

      It is going to be more of a road car but I will get it on the track at some point just to see what I and the car can do. I think for now I am just going to look for the fittings and if or when I puke the pump I will upgrade.

      The various GM pumps are similar inside. The difference is in the pressure relief valve & outlet flow restrictor.

      Does anyone know who makes these adapter fittings? I have talked to hot rodders and different distributors and they all say they have heard of them but don't know who makes them.

      Talk to Lee. If the box has the later metric thread O ring fittings the threads are close enough for SAE stock fittings to screw in and he has some inserts to replace the O ring with a seal for the flair like in the first article picture. Used them on my 79 Camaro with a later IROC box when I autocrossed it.
