Project No Name (Yet) 69' Camaro RS LS2 build

Hey guys, I've been reading through and learning a lot from this forum so thank you to everybody here for providing helpful information.

I bought a 69' Camaro RS as my first car when I was 16, put some money into the motor and built a decent small block with muncie 4 speed and ford 9''. It was great for cruising around and always got attention (even with a poor paint job). 10 years later I decided to go through the entire car and commit to the LS2 swap on a budget build.

I started the project before I did a bulk of the research...leading to making a few mistakes along the way but have been happy overall.

Here is what I started with...she looked good from about 5-10 feet but after we started stripping it down we discovered quite a bit of rust.

After purchasing a used motor from a GTO I had my shop pull it apart and do torquer V3 cam and port and polish the heads. Got a Ported Throttle body,Ported Fast intake manifold and a few other goodies. Didn't realize I needed the corvette accessory drive until my later research. One of the few mistakes!

Being this thread is after a chunk of the work has been done, some of the pictures will be out of order...

So we started into the body work and realized there was quite a bit of rust under that poor paint job. This project just turned into a pretty big commitment!

Thank you rocketrod! I've ready through your build thread a couple of times. Very clean build! I am getting more anxious the closer I am to "finished". Just want to get her on the road and work out the kinks. I'm sure it'll be a never ending project. Only a few key pieces missing and I'll be able to enjoy it!!!

Thank you! It's getting there..not bad for a budget build driver...still work to do. We are molding the front end to clean it up and still need to adjust the body to straighten it out...next up wheels and wiring up the motor!

looks awesome! what color is it? I had a 98 mustang a while back that I repainted Ford's 'Dark Shadow Grey'. I really loved the look with black wheels and still do. Still thinking about to paint my Monte Carlo (pic in signature) that way instead all black..

Yes Kevin I agree and really like the contrast of the grey with black. Blacking out the window trim, handles, badges, grill etc. become noticeable but blend nicely with the gray.

I was actually looking at the Dark Shadow Grey when I was trying to find a good grey. I do like that color!

I chose ferrari Grigio Silverstone paint for my car. It is a gorgeous color in person (better than pictures IMO). In the sunlight it really pops and has more depth than I thought it would and at night it darkens up quite a bit.

I'm going to go with an ALL satin black wheel and still trying to decide on any kind of stripe on the car in a satin black as well. I really want a "stealthy" look.
