      Rust remover dip?

I saw a thread on a forum, but I can't remember which!!! I frequent this a lot, so I'm starting here.

There was a dip you could buy in various sizes, someone had half-dipped a few parts like pulleys and such, and it really seemed to work well. I just got a project that has some very rusty bolts that aren't able to be purchased, odd ones, and am now trying to find this dip.

So, anyone remember the thread or am I in the wrong forum?

It was a thread on evaporust. Don't recall where, though.

Depends on what and how much rust you need to remove... I use POR Metal Ready a lot. It does a good job of removing moderate surface rust. A little ScotchBrite and some elbow grease cleans up sheet metal real quick.

It was a coffee can holding all the bolts that got water in it. I don't know the history of the car, so it could have been quite a few years ago! I'll check out the Evaporust and see if that will ring a bell, thanks!

Well, if it wasn't what I had read about before, it's sure what I'm going to try now!

My Dad used Sno-bowl or something like that. It worked good. And may be cheaper then car specific products. I will ask him tomorrow.

Ospho works. I use a similar product called Wonder 900 but Ospho must be more common as usually people have access to it. Be careful with things like window regulator springs as they don't fare well if really rusty, mine came out in pieces.

I have some pics of some floor braces I posted in the thread above.

I heard CLR that you can buy in the household cleaning materials section at WalMart works well too, although I haven't tried it myself.
