      Shipping seats

I'm looking to ship a set of GTO seats from Texas to California. FedEx and UPS freight are both very expensive. Does anyone have a suggestion on an inexpensive way to ship? UPS gave me a quote of $165 based on weight, but now that I'm actually shipping, they say the package is too big for UPS ground and has to go freight. I'm not sure why they didn't ask how big the boxes were initially.

Try other common carriers; UPS and FedEx are the most expensive. Most LTL (less than truckload) carriers offer electronic tracking, and will pick the stuff up at your house; you can drop at terminals for less money. Some examples are Old Dominion, Estes, Saia, R&L, etc...

When ever I shipped seat I would take them apart put the backs in 1 package and the bottoms in another .wrapped them in cardboard and a lot of tape .
