LS1 Sensor Question (what is it)

I have a salvage 2000 Ls1. There is a female threaded pipe type connection at the rear of the intake valley, this in the block. It's about 3/8 diameter and right beside the cam sensor. Can someone tell me what it is? It was missing on mine and plugged with a cap.
