      1967 el camino EL-ROD

hey yall this is my 67 el camino. this is gonna be a very long build time and on a budget, im an emt and dont make a huge amount of money so gotta keep the cost down as much possible but got some big plans for this thing down the road!!

      https://www.pro-touring.com/showthre...rom-East-Texas

      the day i got it

first things first the old wheels had to go!! picked up a set of 17" torq thrust d's

then on to some things in the interior, the old bench seat was worn out the springs in it were beyond repair so out with the bench and in with new buckets and new carpet

then drove it for a while and one day it just decided to die in the middle of the highway, got it towed home and pulled the motor and rebuilt everything

      old tired 305

while the motor was out i cleaned and repainted the engine bay

right before the motor went back in, new edelbrock performer rpm intake, performer 500 cfm carb, comp thumpr cam, new water pump, fuel pump, power steering pump, oil pump

thats all i got for now just enjoying it right now

i plan on hopefully soon doing the CPP disc brake conversion and stage 1 pro touring package then from there who knows! once my dads 71 ranchero is finished i will be able to tear it down and do paint and body work and really be able to get into it for the time being im just enjoying driving it!!

few more updates.... only one comment on the thread so far was hoping for some input....

picked up a 350 from a buddy of mine got a hell of a deal on it. its a 350 with a 284 extreme energy comp cam and double hump heads.

then started getting in parts for the new motor:
      Edelbrock performer RPM heads
      Edelbrock performer RPM intake
      Edelbrock victor series water pump
      Edelbrock performer fuel pump
      Edelbrock performer 650 carb
along with new gaskets stainless engine bolt kit

also took the headers to a local powder coating shop that does ceramic coating and got them done

      before

      after

we cut out the old rusted out panel under the rear window and got the new panel welded up

got my disc brake kit in the mail, its front disc brakes with 2" drop spindles

soon as I get the passenger side and roof in primer im getting the bed blasted and then pulling out the old 305 and prepping the engine bay and start working on the brakes and also start ordering my suspension parts. also gonna start building the motor in the next couple weeks!

Good choice using the Edelbrock gasket set with the heads. Seems felpro is the go to and on those heads, you're asking for trouble.

Diggin the build! I'm currently building a 67 also. Just trying to get all the parts in so I can finish the interior then its full focus on the drivetrain next. Have a link to mine in my sig.

Good luck! Will be following your progress while I wish mine was much quicker!!!

The head bolts and studs are made for Edelbrock by ARP, so you have the best parts on the best heads! Looks like we both have a long way to go. I'm going to wait and tackle the bodywork next year. I want to get the drivetrain and suspension done so I can drive the thing this year. Short summers here in the Pacific North West, so gotta enjoy them when ya can!
