Dingo Sliders for LS mount in 69 camaro

Anyone tried the Dirty Dingo sliders to mount their LS? I was thinking about using them and thought I would get some feedback. I have a 69 camaro putting a 6.0 with a 4l80 trans. It is the stock subframe with the Iroc steering box (same size as orginal style power steering box). I don't want to dimple the tubes on brand new headers to clear the steering box. I was thinking the sliders would give some adjustment to avoid the steering box. I haven't bought any of the conversion parts (headers, mounts, crossmember) so asking all I can before I pull the trigger. Thanks.

Dingo Sliders for LS mount in 69 camaro

I just dropped my my ls 6.2 in two days ago and couldn't been happier! Everything went in on the first time. I used s&p motor mounts, stainless works headers, lee 600 box, speed tech ats t56 crossmember. And I still have room between the header and box.

The good news is that I'm installing a 6.0 LQ9/T56 combo into my '67 Camaro with a Delphi 670 PS box, and I just ordered the Dirty Dingo Sliders on Friday. I have the tall and narrow '69 frame mounts for 302/350 (3945507 and 3945508). I went with a set of Energy Suspension 3-1117G poly motor mounts. The bad news is I'm still a month or so from test fitting, so I'm not much help.

I bought them for the same reason as you're thinking. I wanted the adjustability rather than hammering on a new set of headers.

I tried to use them on one of my LS1 swaps. They fit great, are made well, but will not work with the Fbody engine acc. The alternator is nowhere near being able to fit. I swapped them out for the their DoubleD 3 position adjustable mounts & have used those on every swap since.

I used them with my ls3/t56 magnum and they are great! gives you tons of room to put the motor where you want. I have the DSE steering box with Kooks 1 7/8 headers and the fit is outstanding. I bought the powder coated ones and the quality is perfect.

Dirty Dingos are really the only way to go in my opinion!

Dingo Sliders for LS mount in 69 camaro

I have the sliders. These are by far the easiest to get the engine right where it needs to be.

Those look like them, but I just read their write up you linked to- When they sent me the first set they told me middle position was nuetral, the others being forward & back of the stock location. Let me look to see if they have anything else. In my 69 I am running an old wayne due subframe. I am running the stainless works headers for the wayne due & a BRP trans mount for an automatic, even though I have a 6 speed. It just looked like it would work and it did with slight trim on length. In the stock sub we have been using the middle position on the dingo mount with bowtie OD cross member for an auto trans & speed tech for the 6 speed. I'm now wondering if we shouldnt be using the front position on the dingo mounts. See what I can find out. Scott

The brackets linked above are not the sliders, these are the Dingo Double-D Adapter Plates that allow 3 different positions, but not the same adjustability of the sliders:

These are my Dirty Dingo sliders powdercoated black (passenger side). They just arrived a couple of days ago.

And the driver's side with the Energy Suspension poly motor mounts loosely attached:

When I talked with the tech at Dingo, he told me the same thing and talked me out of the Sliders. I got the DoubleD's instead. I'll let you know in a couple weeks if he was right.

I am running the corvette accessories so that shouldn't be an issue for me. Some good info here so far. Thanks guys. I also looked at the Hooker manifolds that have been out for a year or so. They look like they would have a lot of clearance and you wouldn't have to worry about exhaust leaks you get from headers either. I don't know what the hp loss would be from a header to the manifold.

Just an update: I bought the Dirty Dingo sliders, prothane engine mounts and an X-factor crossmember from American Powertrain for my 4l80 transmission. I put the engine and transmission in this past week and it dropped right in.

I used the Dingo DD's for my LS2 in my '69 with factory subframe. The LS2 came from an '06 GTO and I left the alternator in the factory location. As you can see the DD on the drivers side needed notched in the lower front corner to clear the alternator bracket.
Whoever I talked to at Dingo explained that the Sliders wouldn't clear that bracket... I found out neither will the DD's!

I have used the DD mounts on 4 swaps and never had a clearance problem on the alt bracket, but on all the swaps we were running the Fbody Acc. I have never used the GTO Acc. Looking at your pic, the Fbody alt bracket on the side of the block only has one bolt, where I see 2 on your GTO bracket. I'm sure thats where the difference is. Glad to see youre making progress. This info may be a little late, but I thought you'd like to know anyway that the Hooker cast iron LS manifolds will not fit on a 1st-gen swap. They do fit on a 2nd-gen swap however and Hooker will soon be releasing full 2.5" and 3" stainless exhaust systems that will couple to them and the mid-length and long-tube headers they've just released for 2nd-gen LS swaps.

Hooker has also just finished the development of a full system of new LS swap components for the 1st-gen F-bodies that will be released in the next couple of months, which will finally eliminate the need to guess at which engine mounts, headers, transmission crossmembers and exhausts systems and oil pans from various manufacturers are compatible with one another.
