      1969 GTO SCCA Autocross

      Hey Everyone,

Well I have some good news for all of you who have been watching the youtube videos of the 1969 GTO Upgrades. She is finally finished and I took her to the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Autocross Competition at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend. I’d like to thank Jim Lehart, owner of Central Virginia Machine service, for the 600 horsepower 461 stroker engine build. I’d also like to thank Mark Savitske, owner of Savitske Classic and Custom for the modified suspension components. Car is very powerful and handles like a modern sports car. Next weekend is Road Atlanta J

Here is the live in car video. Hope you enjoy.

Looking good!!!! Seems like a blast to drive your goat!

Can't wait to get my '70 GTO vert done. Got a lot of SC&C goodies on order too!

Wish you had another video showing your goat cornering through the course from the sideline.

click on my username and find my posts and you will see some build threads. And yes I was definitely coming out of the seat. I had to hold on to the steering wheel very tight and press my kmee against the door panel. I definitely need some aftermarket seats.

Looks good, I looked through some of your older post and was wondering what brakes you are running? I am also running YO Rally II's and brakes have been a bit of an issue.

Arafat as staying in the seats I put a pair of Scat Procar Rally seats in my Lemans and I'm really happy. They are comfortable, the bolsters keep me in place, and the vinyl is a pretty good match for my stock interior.

Car looks killer by the way.

I am running the small low profile wilwood disc brakes on the rear and the stock disc brakes on the front. About to upgrade the front to the 2 piece Forged Narrow Wilwoods. I think the rotor is 12.89 for 17 inch wheel clearance.

Also, per the request above here is the video without the music so you can hear the engine.

I'm curious to see how those brakes fit. I measure the inside of my Rally II's and determined I wouldn't have enough room.

Take a look at Figure 2 on Page 4. It has the brake dimensions. Looks like the total height of the caliper and rotor is 14.8 inches. The year one 17 inch wheels have 15 inches clearance and Wilwood reccomends .080 clearance between the wheel and caliper. The year ones would have .2 inches clearance. According to wilwood this is enough (greater than .080)

Is there something I am not seeing? Does the 4.5 inch back space cause a clearance issue? The 17x8 wheels have a 4.5 inch backspace.

Here is the link to the PDF that has the dimesnions. Page 4 Figure 2.
