Recommendation on a LS1 stroker kit.

After spinning a rod bearing, well several the way it sounds, the LS1 is in need a a new crank and some rods. Just a well add some stroke to it.

Looking for recommendation for a strokes kit.

Here is what the builder and I have settled on, a Callies Compstar stroker kit. 4.00" stroke forged crank, 6.125" forged rods. 3.903 forged pistons. It will now displace 383ci or 6.3L. Pump gas friendly with 10.6:1 compression and should be really close to 600 horse according to his computer dyno.

That's probably the direction I plan to go with mine if it ever goes. That may not be much longer the way I drive it now. lol

BTW, love the way you built your car. I wish I could something similar with my dad's MCSS.

The Callies stuff seems to be the way to go in the LS world. That is what I am using with Mahle pistons for my ls3

I had Mahle pistons prior to the stroker kit. I believe the Callies kit comes with wiesco pistons.

Thanks, man! Right now my dreams are being put into my 68 C10. I'm planning on building a new chassis for it and "build" the LS1 in a couple more years. My dad has an 87 MCSS he built back in 04. He is currently thinking of selling it. If I didn't already have the truck, I would buy it and upgrade the suspension first, then maybe look into a whole new chassis later with an LSx/6 speed combo. My first car was an 83 ElCamino SS, so I certainly have a desire for another G-body car sometime.

I ordered my Callies crank and rods today. I think there is about a 10-14 day lead time. I can let you know how the look when they come in. Supposed to come with a rough balance, but I am supplying my own pistons, so my machinist will have to finish the job.

My builder made it sound like he would have it midweek after ordering it last Thursday. He said he should be completed with the build in a couple weeks but I thought it would be completed by now. I also believe it comes fully balanced with the provided pistons which I think are Wiseco.

One thing about it. Warmer weather is in the forecast and I can wait for the next outing with my Monte Carlo!

Using the factory 243 castings that had some port work done. I also use a LS6 intake.

Parts were received last week. They should have it back together first of the week, at least that what they told me today. I would think that 6 weeks should be plenty of time to get an engine rebuilt.

Lastest update is the the clearancing of the block is done and the short block is ready for final assembly. Told me they guaranteed it would be done Friday the 19th. I will not hold my breathe. That will make it over 8 weeks to get this out of the shop. Pretty sure I will find another builder for the next one.

I just swapped to a forged 383 LS1 bottom end bought from LS1tech classifieds. These are the parts it came with.

      LS6 383 Callies C-Series LS1 4.000 Crankshaft 24 tooth
      Scat 4340 LS1 I-Beam 6.125 (.015 offset) Part # 2-ICR6125-7/16
      Wiseco K464F3903 LS1 3cc Pistons 3.905 Bore 391g each

The car just made 496 rwhp 469 rwtq on a Mustang MD-1100 chassis dyno so your builders estimate is not far off.

I'm running ET Performance 215cc heads, ported Fast 90/90 and a custom 235/242 cam from Engine Power Systems.

To rebuild my short block with honing and clearancing, , clean and reassemble the heads, and new head gaskets, out he door was $4166. I thought this was a pretty good deal except for the 8 week turn around time. He used the Callie's speed pack with JE pistons.
