      255 tire on a 10 in wheel

I have a pair of 255/40/18 tires that I will be using on my Nova project. Im going to run a 9.5in wheel but the tire spec chart says that it can be used on a 10in wheel... With the Ride Tech tru turn you can run a 10in wheel.

Does anone have any pics or input on a 255 on a 10in wheel?

I think a 255 will actually fit better & look better on the 9.5 vs. the 10. It actually may still be a bit narrow for a 9.5" wheel. For comparison, a 275 fits nicely on 9.5. That 255 might be drawn in at the top of the sidewall, & flare out at the bottom near the bead. It would be worse on a 10" rim. Hope I explained that ok. My buddy is running the tru-turn with a 265/40/18 on 9.5" and it fits very well. Scott

      I agree a 255 will look stretched on a 10" wheel. My Z had 9.5's in the front with 265's and after seeing that I wouldn't even run a 255 on a 9.5.wheel

IMO 255s on 10s will be pushing it. Here's the "stretch" of a 255-40-17 Nitto NT555 on a 9.5" wheel...

Another shot, 255s up front and 275's on 9.5s out back.

Looks like a 9.5 it will be. thanks for the input guys and for the pics Ben. I did some google searches on tire stretch and what are some of these import guys thinking???

I cant wait until I use up these 255 tires and get some 275's

Some C4 Vettes used a 255-50-16 on a 9.5" wheel, BMW uses a 9" wheel for 255-40-17 and 255-35-18 sized tires. Optimal size is a 9" wheel (1" narrower than section width).

On a 10" wheel, you can fit the 255 safely - a bit of a strech until you get other tires. Optimal size is a 275 width, but 285 fits just as well.

Here's a pic of a 245 width tire on one of our 9.5" wheels - would look the same as a 255 on a 10" wheel - one of our customers sent the pic in last week:
