I just walked in the door (Sunday) from a business trip and haven't even thumbed through the magazine yet but had to get on here and comment about the cover.......BADDEST COVER EVER!!! Absolutely love it! Kind of reminds me of HOT ROD'S "Dare to be Different" theme in the early 90's, but it works. Now I'm signing off to read the mag. Great work Kris.

Some of those welds were done using thumb controls instead of a pedal control. If only I had had that when I did the roll cage!

Kris really helped me out too: Johnny wanted a better story cover shot, so Kris' rendering filled the bill.

John Ulaszek shot the whole article over a grueling 10 hours last January in my freezing cold garage. He spent most of the time that day rolling around on the concrete floor managing light and framing shots.

I bought a heater for the garage after that. JohnU was pissed I didn't get the heater before then.

I hope some of the mystery of a 3 link has been dispelled, and remember that Katz has taken his design skills over to Lateral Dynamics in San Diego. I understand they have some 3 link products coming out.

I just picked up an issue yesterday, and it was superb! The only complaint (?) that I would have is that one of the cars picked for illustrative purposes was not a non-Mustang Ford Fox body. It would have been REALLY cool if Kris had done a rendering on either a Fairmont Futura/Zephyr Z-7 or a Granada/Cougar.

But then again, I do have a vested interest in this issue, seeing that I have an '82 Cougar sedan.................................

But seriously, this issue ROCKED!!! I do agree with everyone else concerning the Chevrolet Laguna.

There were many cars that should have/could have been on the list but only had room for nine..

Next year we should do 18 cars you need to build.. lol

Great issue all around. Wow.

As for the renderings- I liked the Riviera the best with those lines and the two-tone. The '82 Camaro was hurting though. A lot of later model third gen Camaro's are in the same price range with better drivetrains and body panels, especially better front bumper covers. Those early ones are just, I don't know what to call them, but maybe better off left alone either in the junkyard or the perfect ones that are just
"kept" for now.

It was cool to see such a huge PT.com member base profiled in one way or another in one issue.

Although we saw the WinGeo printouts for the suspension effects, I would have liked to see the actual measurements for the pickup points as well - how long are teh control arms ? How much do they converge in plan view ? In other words what are the x,y,z coordinates of the suspension system.

GREAT pictures though.

I wonder what II Much will weigh ?

I'm hoping for somewhere around 3000 lbs, but I really have no idea what to expect.

I got my issue yesterday, finally. It was a great issue, and I really enjoyed Steve's features. The '72 Torino was one of my favorites, Kris did a great job with those renderings. My only complaint is--that Ventura is NOT a Street Fighter. A Street Fighter is a g-machine taken to the next level. Ie: Less refinement, more capability (handling, braking, acceleration) it is not a mix between pro-touring and pro-street. The Ventura would be better classified as "Modern Pro-Street" other cars in that category include Mike Desmond's Chevelle, and the year one nova. I don't mean this as an attack on Steve or PHR, just for clarifications sake. I just don't want to see every person at a car show with 17 or 18" drag radials thinking their otherwise stock-suspended car is a street fighter. The main problem with the name is it lends itself to just that. Street Fighter sounds like it has something to do with street racing, and most of the faster street racers (who don't just run ET streets or slicks) run 17 or 18" wheels with a decent sized DR in the back. I guess this is why it's a common misconception of what a Street Fighter truly is.

It is an endless debate, but more so with the terms pro-touring and g-Machine. For so long, Street Fighter was held sacred to those very few in the know. LOL Call me the StreetFighter crusader.

when i was a little kid i used to read car mags and when they would say "blown motor" I was lost.

"he was out of the race with a blown motor"

Also I almost forgot, that '08 GNX was right on the money. I loved the design of that car(LS2 power would be a plus!). Cudos to Kris, Johnny, Steve and anyone else who had a hand in that. I would love to see GM build that car, and it really is the thing that could save Buick. When was the last time you got excited driving past a Buick dealership? 1987? C'mon GM, open up your eyes!

Well it is sorta hard to classify any car that is only a rendering.. maybe the rendering had a basic, tossed together interior.. mediocer paint and a strong but low bling motor?
