Replacement sheet metal and welding questions

I'm pretty much replacing everything in my Camaro and there are a few questions I have pertaining to my sheet metal I've received.

      1. With replacement panels where I can't get to the backside after welding (rocker panels for example), have you guys left the EDP coating alone or scuffed it and painted the inside before welding it on the car?
      2. How have y'all welded quarter panels to the rocker? I'm trying to figure out how it was welded to that area where the quarter glass is at? Is it through the area where you would put in the quarter glass regulators?
      3. And for the Camaro guys who replaced outer rockers, is there a particular reason why the rockers have a section cut out at the rear there it meets the quarter panel. You can kind of see it on right of the rocker panel

That little piece missing from the rocker needs a small patch welded in. Must have something to do with the way they make them.

I used the waxy rust preventative spray from 3M inside rockers etc. It stays flexible.

I plug welded the quarter to the rocker from inside as you described. Nice coat of two part seam sealer after welding.

Just my two cents. I am not a professional.

I did the same thing for the rocker.

Same thing with the quarter to the rocker,

I used this stuff made by CIC (Corosion Inhibitive Compound) called "Like 90" it came as an aerosol. You spray it at the seam, and it will creep around the plug weld sealing it. You'll need to get the cleaner too. After it dries, clean off the excess and prepare for paint. You can also wait until you're done painting, if you're concerned about the paint sticking.

There is a little bracket that goes in the corner of the window/sail panel. They are usually rusted away or just gone. I believe they help keep the quarter from cracking in that area. Just somthing to look for. I have seen them missing on quite a few cars. It welds to the quarter glass area and the big brace that runs from the top the wheel house to the roof.

I sprayed the insides of my rockers with epoxy, and then hit them with a coat of rattle-can undercoating after masking off the areas that would be welded. A little extra protection never hurt.

The quarter needs about 6 holes punched in the flange where it meets the rocker, and then you stick the mig gun down in the hole that the regulator is in and zap some plug welds in them. Some guys use panel adhesive instead, but I don't work fast enough to make that work...lol.

That little notch in the back is for the wheelwell to tuck into. It's cut out too big on most replacement rockers, so you need to add a small piece after the rocker is fitted.
