The LS swaps just got a lot easier.

Just got the JEGS catalog and saw that MSD has made an Atomic set up for the LS motors where you don't need the factory wire loom. This will make it so much easier to cram an LS into damn near anything. Really neat stuff.

Pricey, but so is a conventional swap.

I saw this at SEMA. I want to like it and just ditch the old MEFI 4 in my car, but I'm not sold on it yet. Between being wireless (not my biggest concern) and having the computer mounted within the fuel rail blocks, which sit right on top of the engine, I have to wonder. Heat and vibration have never been electronics' best friends. If it is proven to work well, I think it will be a winner.

It's not wireless, just wireDless. By housing some of the ecm in the fuel rails it helps minimize the amount of wire running from the ecm to the engine. The circuit board under the fuel rail covers is potted in some heavy duty industrial strength epoxy. Sefl tuning, extremely versatile, and the ability to handle more horsepower than most of us will ever have make it a winner for a lot of people.

I would be willing to bet that it would run much better than your dialed in MEFI 4

It also (at this time) will not control a electronic transmissions (4l60e etc. etc) According the the rep I talked to at Sema this is in the plans but not available at this time. Very nice looking system installed as they had several examples at Sema . I have friend that we are doing a 65 Impala Ls conversion on and hope once we get to the point of selecting wiring , controller this will have the ability to control electronic Trans.. Roger

Wonder how the self tuning does with mods, or even forced induction?

I'm pretty sure you just go in to the hand tuner and give it a new parameter like cam specs or boost maker and it shifts to a new base table then learns from there.

Exactly, very similar to anyone elses self tuning setups, you input some general parameters and it figures it out from there. That does mean the sky is the limit for cam selection and so on, but for most streetable combinations it should do the job.

It seems MSD had a blower motor LS setup at SEMA, but I may have imagined that part.

I wonder if this setup has a check engine light on it? Pretty neat setup though.

Very nice looking setup - makes it easy for the do it your-selfers out there. With a price tag of $2500+ I dont see it as a good alternative. The only thing that I really like about it is how clean it installs - aside from this it just seems quite costly to just handle replacing the ECM and wiring harness.

I saw this at sema also and it seemed that the coils or fuel rails,
would be in the way for a magnuson sc, I asked the rep and he said they where working on a fix for that, Just food for thought

Agreed. Make it $1,500 and I would likely go with it. But at a $1k premium to even a high end custom harness, I don't think it is going on my car.

I want to like these self tuning setups but at the $1000 premium over a traditional harness, ecm, and tuning software, it's hard to get past the "that's cool" phase to the "I'm going to buy this" phase.
