Where to get GOOD balanced Rot. assemblies
Im looking for a good 383 internal balanced assembly for a decent price with good componets.
I have found a Howards kit for around $1800 750HP rated
Also Ohio crank has a kit for $1250 but Im unsure of make of some of the parts.
Howards is all American made. Anywhere else i could look?
I want to keep the off shore parts to a minimum.
Nothing says "I built this" better than tool marks and dykem blue..

08-05-2005 #2$1800 for a serious rotating assy is pretty cheap.
I have had pretty good luck with the Scat stuff - the quality is better than CAT or Eagle.
You should be able to get a Forged crank with 6" H-Beam rods and Pistons for around $2K
The Scat cranks are Forged in China but finished in USA.
You quite frankly cannot beat Crower for quality, but you are gonna spend that $1800 just on the crank1971 Camaro, 383 stroker ~500HP,M21 Trans with lightened flywheel. All Sorts of Auto-x Goodness in the Suspension. 12" Brakes ->SOLD
But ask me about my 2004 STi Auto-x car...
Just call me Brett

Try giving Callies a call. I got my rotating assembly from them. I went with a Callies 4340 Dragonslayer crank, Manley Sportsmaster 6" rods, JE Pistons, and Clevite 77 bearings - but they will put together anything you want. The Callies personnel are great to work with too.
They will balance the assembly before shipping if you want them to, but I opted not to have them do the balance prior to mockup just in case I had to grind on the pistons for P-V clearance.
