1st Gen Firebird guys gas cap options?

I don't like the square fuel door on my 67 firebird so I was wondering what other guys have done. I have seen some tail panels shaved and the fuel filler moved to the trunk and seen some that looked like they cut out part of a camaro tail panel and welded it in, just looking for some ideas.

I'm probably going to use this Sparco filler. I'll make a piece that's recessed to mount it flush and weld it into my new tail pan before I install it

I can't remember the site I found that had similar ones. They were for aviation applications so if you search some of that stuff you might find some

Fortunately the Camaro panel is only like $70, not the $300 us poor Firebird guys have to pay. Though it's big enough to have to pay truck freight unless you can get someone local to supply one.

I'm sure dozens of Camaro tail panels are replaced every year with a lot ok in the gas cap section. If only people knew Firebird guys as well as some others want the gas cap section they could be selling them on ebay. Maybe if some of the shops that post here see this they can start posting any they replace in the for sale section

I have a section out of a Camaro that I as going to use on my 67 'Bird. But since decided on a different mounting of my fuel cell in the trunk so don't need it. In fact I'll weld over the opening in my new tail panel. If any 'Bird guys want this section drop me a PM.

That looks sharp Lenie! I was looking at different gas caps and came across some of the mustang gas caps and thought they would look good. BTW your car is awesome!
