what front spring rate for a sec gen camaro?

Just want to know what people are running for a front spring rate on a sec gen camaro. I will be going with ride tech coilovers to match the ride tech four link I have on the car. Im thinking a #550 front spring will work.

I am pretty sure that 550 is what Scott Mock is sending me with my subframe. I asked him to duplicate what he had done on other second gen builds.

You really need to run it through the spring rate calculator to get it right. Change the motion ratio only a little and spring rate changes quite a bit.
If you don't have access to scales you can use the vehicle weight database to get pretty close.

That helps with my ls1. I think I will run the 550 spring. seems to be what most people run.

Spend a few minutes on the spring rate calculator for a more accurate recommendation. Who knows, 550 might be just right, but then, it could be way off.

The spreadsheet on your site is a dead link. Im curious what you guys are recommending for a CPM?

I found that 105CPM has worked well for my car.

Wheel frequency is a little over most customers head, so we don't "show" that to you on the spring rate calculator (though we do weight the results by wheel rate in the background calculations).

However, our 48 Hour Camaro has a cpm VERY close to what you've found to work well.

      Britt,

I called you guys today and talked to your tech and was told that with what mods I have it would be better to just run the spring rate that comes with the front coilovers. That is what I placed a order for and I feel better now that I had someone answer a few questions. Thanks for the great customer service as always.

No problem. . .we are hot rodders as well, so we "get it"!
If you have any more questions just let us know.
If you don't feel the spring rate is correct we'll swap you out for the rate you want, no problem. I personally prefer my muscle cars to ride a bit on the stiff side, while most others in the company prefer a little more ride quality. My point is everyone's idea of how the car should ride is different. Your "butt dyno" is what we have to match! However, we have done a lot of math and testing to prove our "butt dynos" are a little finer tuned and will get you VERY close to what you expect the first time out, if not dead on.

#650 here Brandon. I will be going with an aluminum Pontiac block however (heavier rotating assembly), not an LS block... your setup should be a little lighter than mine.
