Rivet Nuts? How big is too big?

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on rivet nuts? I'm currently installing the rear hangers on a magnaflow exhaust kit. I bought 3/8" rivet nuts to install in the bottom of the frame rail to bolt up the hangers. The thing the concerns me is a 17/32" (a little shy of 9/16") hole is needed. Does anyone feel that hole is too big for the bottom of a 1st gen camaro frame?

Just as a knee jerk reaction to this with absolutely no engineering backing, yes that is overkill for what you need. I feel like maybe a 1/4in bolt would be more than enough and more along the lines of something that I would run

Interesting, as I'm looking for a 3/8 rivnut for the same location. The bolt would screw into the frame, but not tighten. It's been that way for 500 miles and a track day.

I used a 3/8 rivet nut for exactly that on the Tommy Camaro. No issues.

Thanks for the responses. After talking with my cousin, who has an engineering back ground, I put the rivet nut on the side (the web) of the frame. Drilling the bottom (the flange) probably wouldn't cause any issues, but the drilling a hole in the web will have the least amount of weakening the frame (or beam as he described).
