Best source for quick connect pulgs

I am going to be need a lot of quick connect style plus once I get into the process of building my chassis, drivetrain, lighting and dash harness.

I am looking for a place to be able to order smaller style plugs to have a good size stock on hand. Then to order larger sized units as I need them.



Also a good question would be what types of connectors should I be ordering.



The plan is to build the harness in sections. So I can remove sections as need for repair work or changes.


The way I plan on breaking thing down is.

Engine,Transaxle and coolers - each sensor or set of sensor and major componet Q/C into main harness
Main Chassis - Main connection to major components and leads to other sections
Fuel system
Dash
Front under body
Front clamshell
Rear clamshell

After doing a quick search, I think I have found a good place for connectors. Now I just need to plan things out and figure out what all I will need.

If you're looking for Delphi wire-to-wire connectors Mouser has a great selection. I suggest referencing the Delphi Global catalog to make sure you get the correct mating connectors. Just because it's a 3-pin connector of the same family does not mean it will fit other 3-pin connectors.

For connectors under 15A I like the GT150 series. They are available sealed and unsealed in configurations up to 20 cavities. As noted above do your homework to make sure you get the correct connector bodies, terminal type (male, female, sealed, unsealed, gauge, etc.), seal size for the insulation diameters, and the right crimping tool.

The right crimping tool makes a huge difference but they can be a bit spendy. A good crimping handle is about $125 + the dies. Good dies start at $250 but one set can do 22, 20, 18, and 16 gauge. I can provide part numbers if you need them.

Pro wire alsocarries them, I will see which works out better for price. I know the toggle switches were cheaper than mcMasters prices at both of Mousers and Pro Wire.

With the wiring and interior being my prtof the build for.the most part. I get all of the fun of building th harnesses we need.

I am installing two different program demos right now to see if they will work to help with my harness layouts and figuring out all the bits and pieces I will need.

Once i get something done to post I will and let others know about the programs.

At the same time my husband and I are taking some courses both for Photoshop and other web design stuff. Also taking some courses for some of the CAD based prograks we use for other stuff.

So while we are waiting to move forward with the build itself we are getting a few other things things taken care of.
