Headlight switch fried, now parking lights won't turn off

Last night the headlight switch in my 1971 camaro started smoking. The coil thingy broke loose and melted to the plastic part where the knob attaches. Headlights never stopped working.I picked up a new switch, installed it, and now the parking lights will not turn off. With the knob pushed all the way in the parking lights are still on.Any ideas? This is my daily driver, so it is an emergancy! Thanks

Ok, forehead slap!So the old switch had a knob that was loose on the little rod, one came with the car that the knob was not loose, so I used it. Turns out the knob was touching thr body before it was actually pushed all the way in!
