Well it is generally impolite to discuss a lady's weight but then again Penny is not exactly a "lady".. lol

A little heavier than I expected but the Dana 60 and big block are not lite items.

Drum roll?

Total Weight (without driver and a few gals of gas) = 3420 lbs



Front axle weight = 1890 lbs

Rear axle weight = 1540 lbs

So, the magic question will how much weight off the front will an LS2 be?? If I can get 300lbs off the front then that would be great since I am sure my back weight will go up some with the new fuel cell and other suspension tweeks.

I know there are many other factors but like corner weights but this should give a decent indication of saved weight.

Hmmm,a BBC weighs in the neighborhood of 750lbs,,a LS2 is around 450lbs. 300 off the nose should make a huge difference,Steve.

I have to ask, by the time you change everything to what you have been posting why did you buy a done car? Nice ride as is but it just doesn't seam closer to your wants as a Pro Tour car??? It can't be just for the paint as after swapping everything out you know what will be next. Just curious not putting down car or anything.

Three reasons..

1. the only way to get a car with good paint and body is to buy a done car. If it is not done chances are that has cheepo paint or iffy body work. I was not going to sit in paint jail for 6 months. I will NOT repaint this car anytime soon. I love the color and how it was done. Has already picked up a best paint award and all the body panels are pristine..

2. I've sold a lot of the parts off the car, $8,000 dollars worth so far. That money will fund saving the car from a life of lackluster performance in anything but a straight line.

3. It is an interesting project. The car is basicly pro-street with a set of pro-touring wheels and decent brakes. re-purposing the car from a drag deal to a road/track deal is cool and I sure there are more than a few drag cars out there that would like to try something new like going around a corner faster than 4 miles per hour.

And no worries in asking questions.. I don't get offended easily

No, I love the Dana 60 and besides swapping out a few parts (like a more sensical PHR and shocks/springs) it will stay about the same. Oh, and I will having Ricks make me a stainless fuel cell to replace the plastic jegs unit.

Remember the car has no AC, no heat, no wiper system, etc.. so that does knock some off the weight. Im sure the glass hood helped as well.

The Dana 60, full cage and stuff adds weight. I really hope to have the car aroud 3100lbs when done but that depends on if I dynomat and do stuff like that.

Yes, and it has a composite intake to take even more weight off it. I wonder if a T56 is heavier than a TH400.. oh wait, Im sure the TH400 and gear vendors unit is heavier than a TH400 and converter. hmm.. more weight savings!!!

Why the gear venders? The T56 with flywheel is lighter than a TH400 – I know I lifted both into the back of my truck – ‘bout broke my back.

You lost me on the question...

The car NOW has a GV unit and a TH400... those are going bye-bye in favor of a T56..

That should be less weight but I am not sure how much. I will also go from the steel driveshaft to an aluminum or carbon fiber.
