How best to put this. Not to dog you or your ride, but being a Pro-Touring forum your mustang is not the accepted protouring build (older musclecar updated for performance and modern handling) and thus might receive criticism. One of the various current mustang forums might be a better source for bouncing ideas about your ride around. However this is a great site to hang around and learn even if you do not own or are not building a protouring ride.

However long you think your project will take, double it and you might be halfway right.

I think that you starting your involvement in the pro-touring ""scene"" using a 90's mustang isnt a bad idea at all. Using a 90's Mustang is also a great idea as well, I see plenty of potential for upgrading your brakes and suspension in your Mustang. I know that Watts link kits are big on mustangs as they improve most of the downfalls that "older, less than older, newer, and newer than newer" mustangs experience. I think that with the appropriate suspension mods, some bigger brakes, and tuned drivetrain you can sure do as much if not more than a good amount of the older biger cars out there are doing. Even though you may get some "criticisim" here its probably for having a Ford and not a real car..JK. Although some misguided perceptions and confusions of pro-touring vs. resto-mod may cause some with opinions to speak up. IMO your car is "newer", (less than 20yrs old) but you should be fine. The plans you have for your next car are pretty huge, and the info you get off this site will def help. Plus anything you can learn and post may help others down the road. After all at the end of the day pro-touring is about enhancing your car, putting it on a track and seeing what you can do, not how old the car. But seriously...Ford? haha
