Jim Wanger Ponitac Rally II Wheels

Does anyone know who is making this wheel?

Not sure who makes those wheels but New Gen has a Rally 2 styled wheel that I can custom build similar. Let me know if you need more info.

As I recall, it was HRE, and they were charging INSANE money for them (on the order of 10k)

Yep, I believe you're right Wes. I believe it was something in the order of $3K+ per wheel.

Ya know, with some detailed powder coat work that New Gen wheel could be made to look 90% as good, if not better. Good call on that one Justin. If you can get someone to go for buying the initial set I bet you could sell the heck out of that package.

We have a set on its way to a customer now. If I remember the car is not at a point where the wheels will be mounted any time soon tho. As soon as I have some pics I will post.

I agree. I do kind of like the spoke curve on the Wengers wheel, and I like the guy, but the money is just over the top ridiculous. I could care less if his name is on the wheel. Actually, rather it wasn't. The NewGen wheel might be the way to go.

I do like these wheels, but they are closer to a mustang Magnum 500 instead of a poncho rally2. Can the spoke be rounded before it reaches the center like a true ralley 2 is?

      Thanks, Clay

Year one is selling those style billet wheels.
$700 - $800 per wheel depending on size.

The new gens would look great with the polished face and the rest a gunmetal or grey. Polished or natural hoop of course.....

I chased these Signature wheels down as soon as I saw them....then crossed them off the list due to the rediculous price being asked for them.
At the moment, the Newgen 500 is going to be my choice for my 71....i'm thinking about having them custom painted by a guy local to me who restores wheels for a living...does a great job and I think I can get them to look more like a Rally II just with the custom paint job I have in mind.
I'm just trying to decide 17" or 18".... then I reckon I'll order a set.

      LOL!

Thanks for suggesting the 500s too. It's a pretty affordable solution to big brake, custom backspace needs, and it looks pretty damn cool too...

I don't see him on the board that often. His signature has his company name. www.evodwheels.com

There are several cool/big inch classic styled wheels on his site.

HRE made the original ones on that car. They were looking to find another more cost effective wheel but have since stopped production on the GTO they were going to build.
We do a wheel very similar to that one for the Lingenfelter 2010 Trans Am.

Ours have lots of dimension and curve on them. Designed for big brake clearance too.
