I don't think it's too old school! I'm running a SBC in Dust Off.

All aluminum and fuel injection? How can you call that Old School-it's awesome! I think that it's easy to think that every Camaro out there has an LS lurking under the hood, if you hang around these Forums long enough--and lord knows I'm going there, too--but most of the "real" Camaros that I've seen at Good Guys events, etc., are all rocking SBC and BBC and it's great.

There's no such thing as "too old-school." Most people have no idea how long fuel injection, overhead cams, rack and pinion steering, and independent rear suspensions have been around. "Old-school" is really just middle school...

Yeap. Sold the Tempest less engine. I'm going to detune the engine some so it is streetable. 13.5 to 1 compression might be alittle too much for the street....lol.... looking to have 600 hp on pump gas with the AC on. I'm even going to be more the unconventional.....AUTOMATIC transmission with paddle shifter. I know real cars have a 3rd pedal........

Nothing like mixing old and new.

Holley HP EFI, Dart Platinum Pro heads and a Crane hydraulic roller cam. All that, plus Dynatech headers and Flowmasters sound snotty as hell.

I don't think there is such a thing as too old school, as long as it runs like a scalded dog. 600 HP and all aluminum with EFI is enough to place most LS powered cars in their place. I really like it.

Have you considered running E85 (105 to 108 octane) with the 13.5:1 pistons? In my opinion that would be killer!

E85 also helps cool the piston domes and further reduce octane requirement. You would need to re-calibrate to about 9.765:1 air fuel ratio for stoichiometric ratio and about 7:1 for max power to compensate for the different fuel. But is would be one bad motor and would make serious power and still stand out from sea of LS motors.

As an added bonus, you could call it an alternate fuel "clean" vehicle to satisfy the tree huggers.

Looks good to me Steve.I have a set of Dynatech headers also. Unfortunately they are for standard smallblock exhaust ports. Looks Like Im going to cut them up and make them fit the 18 degree exhaust port. E85 is out of the question around where I live. I want to be able to drive this anywhere. Untill E85 is at every staion I'm out.

Was this the engine you were running at RTTH?

      It definately sounded nasty.

Do you have any current specs/pics?

A good old SBC will never be out of style. They work really well for comparatively little money and put up some great power #'s. Not too old school at all. One of the options on the table for me is going all iron on my pontiac, 6x heads hand ported and a quadrajet for around 475hp/550tq. Old school is cool.
