      HELP! Custom Radiator Hose

      Gents,

I have searched the web over and over again...Contacted Dayco....No progress..

I need a custom radiator hose. The Intake covers up the area that prevents the stock LS1 hose to be used...Trying to avoid expensive options like Cool Flex.

I need help. Someone has to know someone who forms hoses.

I would say stainless tube with short hoses at the ends for your curves. Or take your mock-up hoses to someone who can bend stainless tube to match.

Well after contacting a half dozen so called hose companies, nobody seems to want to help me as they promise to get back with me and never do....I had to go against my feelings and bought a cool flex hose. Its already been nearly two months....I can't wait any longer!

Wellis77, I live practically in the middle of nowhere in the Mojave Desert...people like that are hard to find local.

Speedway sells a radiator hose kit in aluminum which is just a sleeve and you can connect parts of factory molded hoses together just go to the parts house and look thru there supply and see what you can cut up and make work. They even sell one piece with a 1/4 pipe bung welded in so you can run tour steam hose into it.

For the ends you can get any radiator hose from the local auto parts and cut what you need. Take a wire with the bends you need and look at a bunch until you find one that has the bend you need and then cut that out.

For my GTO I needed a larger lower hose to fit the radiator and water pump so I took the old hose and bought one for a truck that was almost the same just about 8 inches too long. Cut with a knife and done!

Is the battery still upfront to prevent the intake from going the other way? A dual pass radiator would also solve the problem but that is a bunch of $$$. If at all possible you need to route the hose lower thatn top of the radiator or it will be very hard to get any trapped air out of the system

Bend a stiff piece of wire or clothes hanger to the shape you need, then go down to the parts store and see if you can match something up to what they have in stock.

were there flares on the ends of those tubes? If not, you really should consider putting some in (any muffler shop can do it for a few bucks). Makes a huge difference if and when you build a lot of pressure.

Do you own a welder or know someone who does?

I purchased steel mandril bent tubing from summit and cut and welded what I needed. Sent out to Jet Hot and installed with Silicone ends...looks great.

I have been considering replacing those clamps with heat shrink clamps. I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet.
