      G-Machine Rigs - LOL!

I was going through some old design work on some of my CDs from back in the Tyco R/C toy days and I had forgotten about these R/C rigs that I did the styling and engineering for about 3 years ago. The rig style that was rendered blue that has more of a hood made into the stores. I personally liked the more cab-over version better. While I was looking at it I cracked up and thought "...G-Machine Rigs!!!!" OK, maybe it's a little far fetched but hey they do have racing rigs over in Europe I think...LOL
Anyways, thought you guys would get a kick out of these.

....Here's the prototypes. You can't see it but it's also a mid-engien style truck. The engien comes out 50% past the back wall of the cabs. Rigs with zoom pipes!!!

Those are cool! A truck manufacturer should buy those from you and produce them in full-scale.

Thanks guys. Hey Tony maybe that'll be your next book! RestoRigs!!!! How to Pro-Tour your Freightliner and Peterbuilt!

Could you imagine the turbo setup you could put on it? ...and 30" rims would actually be functional and proportioned for the vehicle!

      LOL!

I have seen that which you speak of late at night on Speed Vision. The trucks actually look sort of similar to Johnny's designs. It's fun to watch big rigs apexing a corner at 80mph, lol!

The race trucks are limited to 100mph to make it safer for spectators, oh and they have water spray jets on the brakes to keep them cool!!

As always I love your stuff. How do they go from drawing to prototype, is it done from a cad drawing or does a guy just carve them?

Any drawings you post are welcome.

The European race trucks are probably the most mind boggling things I've ever seen. The fact that they're so top heavy yet still corner like a sports car is flat out amazing! I think these designs are a lot cooler than the full scale trucks, maybe this will catch on!

Most of the stuff I do taking a rendering to a prototype is done by hand drawn control drawings (top, side, front, back) atleast for all the toy and diecast stuff I've done. I also accompany it with contour drawings. I take the 3D lineart and draw red gridded lines over the vehicle shape to help define the surfaces so that you can follow the shape of the body for prototyping. I did this with the designs I did for Tyler's 50/50 bodykit and with the 2004-05 GTO bodykit I designed for Arrowhead Performance. If your prototyper understands surfaces and production he can translate it pretty well from these drawings without even going near CAD or PRO-E, Alias, Rhino or any of that stuff. I do have some Alias and a lot of Rhino experience and will be doing some 3D drawings as soon as I upgrade my computer.

You would be suprised at how low the CoG actually is on those rigs. In stock form an empty tractor will take a street corner every bit as fast as most street cars.

I have a 99 T800 in my stall right now, we have.....modified it a bit. Empty it will out accelerate a late model "F" body from a roll, we had it loaded with a 60,000 lbs tractor on a low bed and it GAINED speed climbing a 12% grade.

I would love to drop one of these things a couple of feet and see how they stick.

Hey Jonny, how about a couple PT style renderings with realistic style bodies? I like the Volvo but any of the newer conventionals will work.
