      Venting Rick's Tank

      Almost done.....

There is a bung on the tank for venting...What is the popular way to vent the tank?

Thanks, Good investment in the future....In the mean time. Is there a cheaper effective way? A hose with a filter?

I just finished my Ricks tank, and I had the same question. I do not know if you running EFI system, I was advised to use a TPV6-fuel cell pressure relieving valve and a fuel cell check valve ( roll over valve). If you are not running a EFI all you will need is the roll over valve. Make sure you install it higher than you tank. PegasusAutoRacing.com carries both.

Our testing determined fuel pump pressure is not a factor with respect to tank venting.

A roll-over valve is not designed to address transient fuel surges or fuel odor.

The II Much Fuel Vent is a systems approach, that when installed as directed, eliminates spillage, fuel odor, and "burping" issues during fill up. Because our design has an integral filter it only requires one hose and one hole -- lowering the installation cost/time over other methods.

wow, thats pretty expensive to just control venting and doesnt do anything for fuel odor. II Much is still looks like the way to go...I just need a cheap alternative as a temp job

There isn't one...trust me i tried different vents... Short of spending the time/effort of coming up with your own charcoal canister system- this is it. It works very well & stopped my burping, overflowing, odor issues! I hated to spend the money too but was essential....

Burping, overflowing, and odor problems are often difficult or embarrassing to talk about even though they effect many people and their loved ones. Thanks for your courage to talk about your symptoms and the update on your good results with the II Much Fuel Vent.

Ok...everyone has been talking about burping fuel and odors. I too have a Rick's tank on my 66 GTO. I have been unable to put more than 2 gallons in it since installing the tank. I ran a vent line from the front of the tank with a 3/8" hose bib to the back of the trunk. Since that didn't work, I just unplugged the hose altogether and left it open vented on both ends (the tank and the neck) still no love. Other than nos spending another $279.00 for the system advertised on here, what else can I try? I have contacted Hector at Rick's and so far no answer.

I'm having a hard time getting Rick's to answer my emails too. They must be out during the holidays

As far as the vent...I think you may have to bite the bullet and pay $279.

I want to get one, but I cant find a place to install it! I hope your ride is better suited.

We engineered the vent to be dead simple to install requiring only one hole and one hose -- reducing the fittings, and hoses required as well as eliminating the need for bulkheads and extra filters which offsets a great deal of the cost and dramatically simplifies installation.
Regarding installation locations, we knew this design would not work in every single application but if you can make it work there is no simpler option. For those applications that can't easily package our vent, we are actively working on solutions, but will not announce any products until they are actually in inventory.

badazz81z28, It might be faster and easier to talk over the phone to discuss mounting options, please email us [email protected] with a good phone number and we'll happily help you figure out the best path forward -- we really want you to enjoy your car and not worry about fuel smell and spill.

      Happy and safe holidays,

Hector has top notch customer service but you have to call him- he doesn't check his email much...
As far as the install- picking out the spot is the hardest part! Drill with hole saw, some hose & fittings, 30 minutes tops....
