      Seized Pilot Bearing?

The pilot bearing in my engine will NOT come out. I used the slide hammer tool and it wouldn't budge. I had a real mechanic (not me, lol) take a look at it and he said he's never seen that tool not work on something.

I checked over on LS1tech and they said hit it with a dremel at 12 and 6, I tried that but the dremel tool doesn't want to cut through it, at least not very easily. I got through the bearing portion, it's about half as think as it was before on both sides.

      Any other recommendations?

I ended up using one of those air saws with the small blades (after trying several other methods). I was able to cut all the way through and get it out without nicking the crank.

PITA and new pilot bearing did not fix my shifting problem either...

I would never use a bearing. The bronze bushings are less troublesome and work just as well.

May not work now, but I have had good luck with packing the center of the brg with grease, fill the cavity behind the brg also, then get an old input shaft, and drive it into the brg. Usually pushes the brg out. If you have enlarged the center of the brg, it may not work. Just a thought.

Bad idea on LS motors, there's an oil seal for the crank in there. You can knock it out.
