I can only speak for myself here, I know I WANTED to be left, but for whatever reason I came out of the turn prior confused and slow, and since I was already on the right, I went for it. I felt like I had been in a Mayor Bob "Filner Headlock"....

It's nice to see the video.Anyone have more to post?.

.I saw Tom taking out some cones... But what I really noticed is .Last event I think..Dan W drove Rich's 69 Mustang.Thats when they talked about how whore out the steering box was..I see how tough it is for Rich in the Video..Mark and Bryce make turning their cars look easy.compared to Rich..Time to replace the Box Rich..I'm wore out just watching the video...you can only go so fast if the steering box can't keep up..

Excellent work Mark! Maybe you can be the official SCCA/Pro-Touring videographer? You and Bryce look super smooth behind the wheel. One look at me behind the wheel on the other hand, shows what not to do! Not very smooth and went the wrong way on the first two slaloms! Those little maneuvers cost me big time!

Whats it going to take to fix the steering box..That would help a lot.You looked pretty quick from the outside the car,But you are working so hard at the wheel..I know Bryce upgraded his steering box after his first SCCA event.
Have you done anything to your's Mark?

The only way to fix that steering box is to melt it down and send it to China! Seriously though, I have a new Borgeson steering box ready to be installed but I was planning on waiting to install it when the engine is out in preparation for the new and much improved engine! Maybe I'll have to change the plan??

The official race results are now posted at SDR-scca.com..Bryce your friend finished first in Novice class on his first event out of 10 cars..Pretty good.Crazy a Lotus Exige finished last in Novice.

Richard. do you have a faster ratio box like Bryce? isn't there other steering links that can be changed that help in quickening the ratio?

      Thanks Bryce, I appreciate that!
George, the factory steering ratio is 16:1 and the new box also uses that ratio. The advantages of the new box are many: It is an integral power box as opposed to the factory box which relies on a power ram and control valve for power assist. The new system eliminates many points of potential leakage and wear and should eliminate most of the looseness in feel. The new box should significantly improve road feel and control.
As far as improving the ratio, I'll talk to Mike Young about different length Pitman and Idler arms and
how to either source new ones or "improve" the existing ones. Mike is an "old school" hot rodder and has done this a bunch of times!

The only question now is whether I should make the change now or wait until the engine is out of the car. It will be a lot easier with the engine out and should require much less beer and Spanish cursing!

gotta say, quicker ratio rack with my racing steering wheel made a huge difference in driving. allowed me to be much more smooth since i dont have to turn the wheel as much. my steering rack is 15:1.

Tomorrow my new rear suspension gets here. I'm hunting a first place finish in SM :D

Something I noticed about another 200 tread tire choice.Hankook RS-3 have been a popular tire choice in the SCCA ST 140 tread wear classes. Now Hankook has changed there mind on it being a 140 tread wear. They say it last longer then expected and that they will lable it a 200.If you go to Tirerack you can see the tire offered as both a 140 and a 200.And the story of it being both 140 and 200.For wide 17s they are around 60.00$ less then Rivals.Oh and Justin the Subaru in ESP that is tough competition for TOM..Is on RS-3

I think 200 means they can sell more tires.

      Tirerack.com RS-3 255/40-17 151.00$ 200 TWear
Performancetread.com there 138.00$ but are only listed as 140 treadware I'd make a phone call.

same size Nitto-05 are 132.00$ These are some bargain prices for some fun tires.
falken rt-615k 181.00$ are known to work well on muscle cars.

Brett That's the truth! You can't go as fast in a car that takes to much work to turn or time to turn.

We had a big turn out of autocrossers last weekend ..171 entries..

George, I run a 98 jeep box on my car, 12:1 Detroit speed inner/outer tie rods, adjusters, idler and pitman arms. If they made those RS-3's in 275 or larger they would sell like hotcakes.

      Rich, put that box in.
