pro touring or pro street

im in a situation. I need to get rid of one of my projects. I have a prostreet and protouring camaro? 67 / 68. Both needs the same amount of work. Just having a hard time deciding which one to sell. Im looking for a car that i can drive with the family, but also be some Bad azz car. What would you do?

I'm trying not to be biased here but I would say keep the PT car. If you are looking for a car that you can drive around with your family, the PS car won't cut it. Nothing worse than carting people around in a car with horrible handling characteristics. yeah it may be bad ass in a straight line, but even a PT car can do that.

You could sell the PT car and convert the PS car to a PT car. This would make sense since you could probley get more $$$ for the PT car on todays market compared to the PS car.

Or you could just keep the car you like the best

We are friendly here.. doesn't mean we don't engage in friendly teasing though

Honestly though.. to give an insightful opinion we would need to know two things..

1. the condition and parts load-out of each car

2. what you want the end product to be.?. a pro-touring car is going to be far more condusive to family outings and crusing than a pro-street car.. Then it comes down to what each car could sell for and give the best $$ to put into the other car.

More than likely the Pro-Touring car is the way to go. Almost always a lot more comfortable. Better gas mileage due to overdrive transmissions, 5speed, 6 speed. More valuable and draws more attention. I switched from pro-street to pro-touring and I will never go back. Like Steve said we are bias but in reality some of our cars used to be pro-street and now are pro-touring. Or pro-something. :icon_razz

You've got some good ideas to start with your decision here. It really all depends on the kind of cruising you want to do.

Oh, and Tony, I haven't seen a mullet in Palo Alto yet. Hippies and Yuppies, hell yes, but Mullets, no. On the other hand, in Pacifica....... Well, you can ask MrQuick about that one.

I say PT since one of the first things I think of in a PS car is the tubs. Tubs eliminate the rear seat. Cant' haul people around without a back seat.

Being that you want to take the family, go PT for sure. A PT car will do alot more things than a PS car and still can be very fast/quick. Sell the PS car and use the cash for the PT car and put the pedal to the floor. There are more high hp cars in PT than ever before. Besides the best part is the people that make up the PT community. Im in the process of putting the prostreet together and then unload it. Most likely will be on Ebay next week.

The PT car needs it inner and out rocker panels replaced and i am concerned on doing them.

I probably shouldn't talk...I had a mullet in High School to go along with the Slayer 'Reign In Blood' cassette tape that was usually baking in the back seat of my car. Ahh...the memories. Praise hell Satan!

Hotdog...I was just messin around, I still like those ole Pro-Street cars (some of them anyway) but I gotta go with the concensus here in that if you're looking for a car to haul the family around, look no further than a G-Machine. Straight line performance, lateral-g's, braking, highway driving, gas mileage....they can do it all. Good luck with the sale, and welcome to 'the dark side'.

Pro-street isn't dead its just not here...transorm the pro-street to pro-touring...should be easy. Might make more money off of it.

I'd suggest that you come out and attend a track event at a local, or not so local road course. If there is any doubt which way you want to go, after one of these events, well, you should sell the car(s) and buy a Chevette.

Make it nice, drive it hard. 'fore you know it, you'll be figuring out how to go faster, and you'll think a lot less about how to please others with "your" car.

Call it whatever you want, just enjoy it.
