      Budget LS3 'Connect & Cruise' mount advice

      So, SWMBO is getting the 'connect and cruise' LS3 / 4L65E package in her 68 Camaro vert. She has zero interest in performance, handling etc, just wants a smooth cruiser.



      I waded through search information about swaps - mounts, radiator, headers etc but got confused. Some of it is now dated, some beyond the scope of what SWMBO is seeking - a basically stock smooth cruiser.

      Can anybody provide advice on the latest LS swap hassle free engine mount / header / sump / radiator options etc. Car will be running stock subframe, stock suspension and stock steering, no a/c...

      To make this as simple as possible, buy as much as possible in kit form, or from the same manufacturer. For example you can get headers, adapter plates, oil pan from holley. They have several different plates for different mounting locations. I would use the "stock location" adapter plates that put the motor in the original stock location. This will allow you to use a OD trans crossmember for the 4L65 like the one sold by bowtie overdrives. I mention this one because I have used it & it fit well. You can use the stock small block rubber motor mounts for added smoothness. The poly ones tend to transfer a bit more vibration. I would swap the stock steering box for an iroc box while you have the motor out. Very inexpensive upgrade while motor is out. Like to see pics of your progress on the swap. Scott
