      Muncie will it work?

Hello everyone .. a couple of questions first a little backround 69 firebird with 400/4sp muncie converting to a ls3. I have a line on a 22thousand mile ls3 running in a 08 vette. He wants 5k does this sound fair? also I would like to use my rebuilt muncie four speed and drive shaft to cut down on cost is this possible? thanks in advance Phil

      5K is a great price for a running LS3.

You could use the Munc with the right bellhousing, clutch and release bearing. You can use a z bar but that will depend on the headers that you will use.

We ran a Quick time Bellhousing pn RM-6036, Mc Leod 1308 hydraulic release bearing, 2001 Camaro T56 pilot bearing (small) and GM LS3 Clutch. You will need a 10 spline clutch disc.

Motor sounds reasonable if you get accessories, harness, ecu, pedal, etc.
      As for the Muncie

Um yeah, that would be me. But mine was a cost factor and worked well with my combo.
Heavy 72 Olds, 2.73 rear, relatively small 5.3, so a T10 4 speed with 3.42 1st works out pretty well as a daily driver.
There are a few weight concious swaps using them too.

I know easier said than done...but I would sell that 4 speed and pick up a Magnum or a TKO. The modern engine is just that much more better with an OD trans. Which muncie is it? May have good re-sell value.

That's what it started out with + a Gear vendors OD. It has T56 Magnum in it now. (unless they changed it again, since last time I talked to Bret)

Another advantage in the 68-72 A bodies, no cutting the tunnel. T56s are too big.
