I say do the car as you please, but I'd highly recommend keeping the original engine and modding it up. I'm just tired of seeing Chevy swaps into everything else. I'm sure there's an extensive list of parts you can get power up your engine, and none of that is permanent by any means. Plus the old Pontiacs had a great low-end grunt that makes them great on the street, and when they're built they sound meaner than anything out there. (to me, they sound how an angry V8 should sound!)

Also, there's a lot else you can do to the chassis that's not permanent. If you plan on keeping the car for a long time then that gives you a little extra liberty, just be sure to keep the original parts. It'll make the car MUCH more valuable should you ever decide to sell it.

Like was said before I would mod it but not to the point where you couldn't return it to stock. Yeah it might be a rare car but it is a 2bbl low po car. I had a 75 pace car that I dearly regreat getting rid of. It was one of 728. If I had it now I would pro-tour it. It seems like your Dad had your thoughts in mind when he told you to make it yours. So do it.

I say do it your way. I'm doing the same with my GTO but I'm not changing anything that can't be changed back to original. I would go Poncho powered... It may cost a bit nore but I think the resutls would be worth it. Enjoy!
