      Checkout my new Brake setup

I upgraded my brakes a few months back but thought I would share some photos since its kinda different. The car is a 76 mustang and originally had single piston 9" rotors in the front and drums in the back. Now it has willwood 12.19" scalloped rotors and 4 piston aluminum calipers all around. I lost around 30lbs. off the the front end. With the Performance Friction Brakes Compound 01 and my RA-1 tires it stops amazingly good with no fade. I've never been in a car that stops this good.(I need to get in more cars!) I will try to measure 60-0 with my g-tech one of these days.

      Enjoy.

      Not bad

How do you like those scalloped rotors? Guess for some guys it beats drilling em' for weight savings. Have you actually ran these on the street? I am curious do you get any strage harmonics or noise at high speed?

Those rotors are awesome! That is the first time I have seen that style rotor. Thanks for sharing the pics.
How well can those rotors handle track abuse without cracking?

      thanks for the complements.

I love these rotors. There light(saved 3 pounds each), cool looking, and an awesome upgrade from what I had. I drive this car on the street and have done many autocrosses and three opentrack events. No cracking, no harmonics. I do hear a scrubbing noise when I brake, but this is due to the compound of the pads. Which I highly recommend.

If wilwood makes a kit for your car you may be able to substitute these rotors as I did. I think the sizes are 12.19" and 11.75" with a 8x7" bolt pattern. Don't take my word though this is all from memory.

Very nice setup! How much did you wind up spending on it with the upgrade to the scalloped rotors?

A Mopar friend of mine said that the Wilwoods have a lot of caliper flex and that his friends have a standing joke about them. Have you noticed any problems at all?

      Thanks!

I forgot what I exactly paid but it was in the $600 area for the whole kit(front only). The scalloped rotors were about a $60 upgrade each from the regular rotors. I thought they were a cool option and thought I would try them out. I have no regrets. each rotor I think is 3lbs lighter than the normal(5lbs vs. 8lbs).

As for flex at the caliper. I don't notice anything. I have the dynalites, were your friends talking about those?

If you live near the san diego, CA area I would happily give you a ride. Maybe you can tell if there is flex going on, all I notice is the harness digging into my chest harder than I ever would have imagined from my car Overall I would say that the braking performce is mostly from the pads. It stopped better after the big brake kit, but when I installed the pads it showed me what a good stopping car was capable of. I'm sure the added rotor size, multi-piston calipers and the sticky tires all help too.
