3M Accuspray primer gun??

I just bought my first paint gun. Its the 3M Accuspray gun with the disposable heads for spraying primer. It just arrived and I was dissapointed to see it doesn't come with the paint "cup" on top. I thought when you bought a paint gun it comes with the cup/canister/reservoir to actually hold and spray paint! They advertise this gun to be a great bang for the buck at $150 but I guess I have to shell out extra for the cups to be able to use it. Does anybody use this gun and can you tell me a good place to get the rest of what I need to use it? I'm not a body guy for a living, I'm just looking to be able to prime and block sand my own projects at home.

I use DeVilbis DeCups. You can check them out on Eastwood .com. You should probaby try to source them from a local paint supplier, There're about $1.75ea but you can mix your paint in them and throw them away when you are done. With disposable tips, you should bot have much cleanup when you're done.

There are other diposable cups available also, but I have no experiance with those.

It's a great gun, our painter loves it, and not just for the quick clean-up times. He really likes the way it sprays. 3M sells their PPS system for disposable paint cup liners, those are nice too. You're playing with pro tools, so the cost is going to be above the hardware store stuff, but you will like the ease of use and results. You can see the gun in this video:

Autobodytoolmart is where i bought the gun. They dont list anything in their catalog about the "PPS" cups. I guess i have to call them and ask. Now i feel like the gun is only $150 because they know you will have to spend $80 or whatever to get started with their "PPS cup system". I understand body supplies/tools are very expensive, (this hobby is very expensive), i just wasnt expecting my new paint gun to arrive un-usable.

Thanks for the part #'s Bad94. Does that include the strainer lid that is used w these cups? (sorry im a painting newb) ..dont want to order cups/collars to find out i need the "special lid".

You will need the lids and liners that go in the cups.

They are not changing the gun just the tips, I have a couple of boxes of the 1.4 & 1.3 tips. They spray sealer just like you would think a primer gun would (like primer). They originally made them to spray paint but the test market did not go very well, so now they are testing them for sealer. One of my shops was a test shop for the tips but they did not like it very much. I have sprayed everything from top to bottom with them and they are still a primer gun trying to be a paint gun. Also the last I heard they had put the tips on hold.

It' s an ok primer gun for the money but if you use it every day and change the tips when they recommend to, you will in the end spend more on this gun then if you just bought a Sata 100B and that gun is the BEST primer gun I have ever used, and I have used them all.

I use mine about 4 day out of 5 and i get about 2 month with the head.

I have a Sata KLC primer gun and only use that when spraying a bunch of primer or poly primer.

Clean out on the 3M gun is about 3oz of thinner and done.
