      LS1 and SBC Mcleod Bell?

Does anyone have experience with using a SBC bellhousing with the LS1? I havent tried a fitment as the SBC is still in the car.

I want to use McLeod # 8630 and use a hydraulic set-up from american powertrain. I think the only issues I would be concerned about it

      1. Will it physically bolt on?
      2. Is the dept "ok" (Distance from trans mating surface to block) for input shaft engagement

BTW does anyone one know if the SBC 11" centerforce bolt on to LS flywheel?

i think they changed the bolt pattern, but the one i had for my tko was off and missing some of the holes. the drawing i pulled up on the internet didnt match mine either though, making me think they changed them.

maybe someone will have a better answer, but it will work. you may need a longer pilot or some other tricks, but there are a ton of guys running this combo.

one thing is for sure; the quicktime is MUCH lighter. theres a pic somewhere on my thread with the difference.

Thank you for replying. Yea my Mcleod is about a year old, My biggest concern was the holes lining up, especially the 12 oclock hole. I was looking into a quicktime, but man $550 is a tough pill to swallow consideringI just bought the Mcleod a year ago. Your right! That sucker is HEAVY!! I think I would have a hard time re-selling it too. If I can use the Mcleod I prefer to. Not sure if they make special roller pilots or not..I will have to look into it.

If it's made for a muncie type trans it will bolt up, minus the one bolt hole. The problem you might have is the LS flywheel/clutch fitting in the bell. If they used the same bell for 158 and 163 tooth flywheels, there's a pretty good chance it will fit. Stock GM 153 bells wont fit over the LS clutch.
      This might help too:

The Mcleod is designed to hold a 12" clutch, so thats good. Which hole are you saying will be missing?

The 12 o clock bolt hole wont be on your bell. You might be able to drill the bell for it. Do not drill the block at the 2 o clock position. I'm running a 621 bell without a 12 or 2 o clock bolt on an LS. No problems.

Ah Snap! I havent looked at the car to verify that, but the instructions show a 12 o'clock hole. I'm not sure...I know what you mean on the 621
