67 Camaro Ridetech rear sway bar install

First, let me say a HUGE thanks to Dan Tesar and Larry at Precision Hot Rods in Macedonia, Ohio. Dan took time out of his busy schedule to weld up the sway bar mounting brackets, and did an absolutely awesome job.

I have not had a rear bar on the car in prior years. I upgraded the front end this year with ridetech coil overs, pro forged control arms, and a ridetech front sway bar. After talking to the folks at ridetech, I decided to upgrade the rear bar as well.

I really like the ridetech bar because it uses nice swivel end links, and the weight of the bar is carried on the cross member, not the rear axle.


The first pic is the sway bar assembly. Note the beefy construction, and the weld on mounts that are included. All hardware is top notch stuff, just like I have come to expect from Ridetech!




The next picture is backing into the shop at Precision. Dan, Larry and their crew do complete car builds, chassis fabrication, powder coating, repaints. Really cool place and two of the nicest guys you would ever meet!



Here is Dan getting to lay the smack down on some of the brackets and mounts. I still don't know how he welds so darn nice, and he did all this laying on his back with a foot pedal. Pretty awesome!





The next two picks are Dans handy work. I kind of hate to paint them, as they look so darn nice.



The last two picks are almost assembled. I still at this point needed to install the zerk fittings and grease everything. I checked for full suspension travel, installed the zerk fittings, and went for a shakedown drive.


The new sway bar really took a "ton" of body roll out of the car. I am very impressed how much more neutral the car feels. The car drives really nice, and the sway bar end links are very fluid. All in all the total job took about 3-4 hours. I am going to hit a local autocross as soon as I can. The car "feels" way better than previous years!

Thanks again to Dan Tesar for his awesome welding. Now, I need him to re-do all the welds on the car so they look as nice.

What rear spring # are you running on your car? Car looks good

I run a 175# rear spring. I think it may be a little "soft", but hopefully the rear bar will help that a bit. I also drag race the car a few times a year, and street drive it a ton, so I did not want to have it ride like a milk truck!
