      Suspension Software

I was thinking of getting a suspension software to see where my car sits and where I could take it to in the handling department. I was looking at Performance Trends "Suspension Analyzer". Is this a good one? Anyone have it? It says it comes with example suspensions. Any of them a mustang II (74-78 mustang)? Would save me a lot of time.

Its kinda pricy, but seems to do everything especially with the rear suspension analyzer add-on.

Do a search for SusProg3D. You can get a version of it for free online. I haven't figured it out yet, but I'll bet it's good if you know what you're doing!

      Hey Al,

You can try a copy of the Performance Trends full version for ten days, it'll download without too much hastle. It works really well, when I laid out the rear setup on my car, I did it by hand (the Old Fashioned Way...), and then plugged the dimensions into PTSA, everything matched up just fine.

Bill Mitchell's WinGeo software looks to be a bit nicer, and though I don't have a lot of "seat" time with it, Katz sure does, and it is really darned nice. They are both expensive, but a really helpful tool to try things out before cutting metal. Things are going to be a bit busy for the next several weeks, but come on up and give it a whirl before you drop your own cash. It's a fair amount of money if you are just playing with your own specific setup/changes.

      Al,
Hey nice to meet everyone last weekend!
Denny found this package a wile back http://www.rowleyrace.com/publications.php
Pretty good deal for basically the full version of Wingeo,
the only thing is you can't save anything. Also I've got the full version so next time your in SC hit me up if you want to check it out.

Perf Trends Suspension Analyzer comes with a 78 Mustang II geometry set but no spring locations. It was provided by a Ford Engineer according to the notes. I'd download the program and try it out, then be sure to print the dimensions out before the two week trial period is up.

All features are enabled during the trial, but they have a very secure computer specific unlock code method that won't allow anyone elses password to work on your computer.

Suspension analyzer won't do leaf springs, you can buy a cheaper version that only does front suspension or upgrade to the "full" F/R
      version later.

Bringing this thread up again after a search.

I finally have the funding necessary to buy some suspension software, and need to decide which to buy. There are two I consider at the moment:

      Perf.Trends full-vehicle suspension analyzer
      Bill Mitchell's WinGeo3 advanced version

I just read that the Perf.Trends analyzer now manages leaf springs and watts links, but no mention about this in the WinGeo site. I've also heard about bugs and small problems in the Perf.Trends, but does anyone know if this has been fixed?

It's just for my personal hobby use, so the $100 difference is tempting to use on other things, but I'd rather spend it to ensure the software isn't the limiting factor, but me (will be me anyway). I also like the fact that most hobbyists in here seem to use the Perf.trends, and this gives the opportunity to email files back and forth, for suggestions/evaluation.

Anyone have any input to offer, or advice? It's greatly appreciated.
      Thanks, Christian (@v8power.net)
