Power steering pump overflowing.

A friend tested his chevelle -66 on the track this weekend.
There was overheating/pressure in the power steering pump.
Oil all over the place.
Engine is a LS1 with the original(LS1) power steering pump and pulleys.
Steering box from a Jeep Cherokee.
Car works great on the street, but when driving more agressive, heat and overpressure builds up.
Do You think the pump and steering box will match together, or do I have make an adjustment?
I guess a Camaro or Corvette doesn´t have this problem when driving hard, ....or?
