200R4 in a 64-65, trans line routing
Guys couple of us on the forum are building 64-65 Olds F-85 A-body cars and with a BB Olds with headers and a 200R4; there is very little room around the oil filter and the header tubes to get the cooler lines routed. Any ideas how too run the trans cooler lines and how close can you get to the header tubes??? 64-66 Chevelle's maybe the same or close but the starter is where the Olds oil filer is....

I have seen on other Turbo Buicks an idea that i considered using in the future. Removing the adapter inserts that the hard lines screw into on the trans leaving an NPT thread and using a flexible braided style line and running it thru the frame, or wherever you like. It looked killer!

04-03-2012 #3I thought of running the lines through the frame where the fuel line goes but there is only enough room for the fuel line, makes it real hard to figure out how to maybe drill out the restriction inside the frame, any ideas?

You dont have to run it thru the frame. It can be routed anyway you like, as long as its out of your way thats all that matters. You can fab up some hangers and that way it can be seen and shown off.

04-09-2012 #5Guys on a BB Olds in a 64 F-85 there is very little wiggle room for the lines to be routed with headers and the oil filter and adapter. I mocked up some lines yesterday with 5/16 rubber tubing and some ties etc. although I have nothing to compare to but at best seems to close to the header tubes and makes it real tight to get the oil filter off. but how tight is tight 1/2 inch, 3/8's? I'm thinking about a remote trans cooler mounted on the pass side, on other side of the cross-member between the pass exhaust and the frame rail ;totally away from the headers? Any ideas?

Where are you located? Eyes on the project would help, so maybe someone is close to you and can be an extra set of of eyes and ideas.
