How much wheel stud poking through do I need?

So I have a wilwood setup with 1/2 x 20 studs. I'm running 3 piece custom wheels with a fairly thick hub pad. The backs seem to be fine with about 1" of thread sticking out past the conical nut hole. The fronts seem to be to short though- maybe 1/2" sticking out? should I switch them out for longer studs on the front as they will be getting a thrashing?

If its a conical seat than two threads past teh lug nut.

If its a shank style then the stud has to go half way into the hex part of the lug nut, per NHRA rules.

Our general rule is as much thread engagment as the stud is thick, so about a 1/2, which is 7 turns on a 1/2 X 20 stud

Frank wouldn't that be 10 turns on a 1/2-20. 20 threads per inch.
