So it's been ages since I did anything meaningful on this.

So over the last few days, interior stripping got some progress, most of the passenger side done now. Think I'll get stuck into stripping out some wiring before I do the painting to make life a bit easier.

More importantly, I got it to this stage:

Nearly ready to make vroom noises again. Needs a top radiator hose found/made, coolant fill, breather hoses made and power steering fill and hopefully it should start.

      And it did!

But of course, mo' cylinders, mo' problems. Definitely not running right. Has an intake leak somewhere and I can't really work on chasing it because it is very loud in the garage and my garage is under the house. Wife was not impressed with the "carbeque" smell through the house now from unburnt fuel and the fresh coating on the headers starting to smoke.

So now I need to finish some stuff under the car so I can put the wheels back on and move it outside to start the investigating.

What mufflers do you run on this? I noticed you said muffler valve and it makes me curious what you have as mufflers as well.

It also makes me want to buy that engine and build a car around it! (Though I'd get rid of the high-end raspy/popping noise).

Fantastic Build by the way, Can't wait to hear it running again!
It is a no-name resonator on it and the rear muffler is a brand called Varex. It incorporates a remote control valve. I'm pretty sure that muffler is leading to some of that sound, I'm thinking I will change it at some stage once the car is up and running properly.

I've got some earlier posts I think that show the suspension and brakes. Essentially it is a Ground Control Race Kit and R129 SL600 brakes.

      Knocked over another little job.

The shifter handle that came with the quick shifter was to suit our Holden Commodore (Pontiac GTO) and swept back.

So I fired up the welder (which I am **** at) and made a new handle. I'm pretty happy with the result and the hand seems to fall quite easily from the wheel to the shift knob now. Important because racecar :D

Aiming to have it back on its wheels this weekend.

So the old man came over and we got a few more jobs done. It's not back on it's wheels yet because a mate is coming to town next weekend and has offered to bring his guard roller with him which needs doing, so no point putting it down only to have to put it up again!

Bled the brakes and clutch. I love my power bleeder!

Did a spanner check on the rear suspension. I also started pulling out the rear swaybar. I had a thicker rear bar made and installed it early last year, but I'm thinking of doing so,ethng a bit different. In any case, I don't have a front bar until I get something custom made so rather than risk diabolical handling, safer to pull it out. I need to get a new jack so I can drop the subframe enough to finish pulling the bar out. If any one wants a 22mm rear bar and bushes, let me know!

We then played with Speedflow to make some hoses for the cam cover breathers.

Also finished off the radiator hoses and filled up with coolant.

The old boy needed a job he could do sitting down so I got him to put on the little Momo wheel I got awhile ago. It might be too small, but I always wanted a little wheel so I'll give it a go.

Next weekend will hopefully be guard rolling and if I have a new jack, swaybar out and then back on the ground

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but I can't find any more recent info on this build, and I have a few questions...

      1. What bell housing did you use with the T56?
      2. How well do the gear ratios of the T56 match the powerband of the 1GZ-FE? Any issues, or anything you would change?
      3. Can your machinist buddy make an adapter plate for me? Or, can you provide the CAD file so I can have one machined locally in the USA?
      4. What ECU did you use to control the engine?

      Fantastic build by the way!

      Thanks!

Holy thread revival batman! 11 years!!

Since his videos are gone, I'm going to guess that he's not an active user here anymore. Looks like his last posting was 9 years ago, and last on this site ... 7 years ago.

But, he might get the email and come back with all the details. Can't image too many ppl are still subscribed to this thread tho. Good luck!
