      TSW Valencia wheels

I am looking at these TSW wheels for my 2nd gen camaro. Will these fit alright? They seem like a nice cheap budget wheel. Im curious about the center cap though? I'm thinking that where I will find a snag. I can always machine out the center of the wheel though.. thats no issue at all. Is this a safety factor though?

It might be because technically your bolt pattern is 5X120.65 and there is a difference. Depending on the offset, you may need to machine the center which means the caps won't fit.

Yeap, I thought I read somewhere that this was not an issue. 0.65mm is only .026". If you figure a +/- .005" tolerance on the wheel pattern and hub pattern, you're only talking .016" to make up now if those parts are on the low and high side...Not sure if this would be an issue here? I swore I read last night that this was a non-issue, but can not find this now.

If the center caps don't fit I can always machine something to fit. I am willing to modify these things because machining time doesnt cost me any money, 1200 forgelines, do haha!

I have read many articles about the bolt pattern difference. Different people have different opinions on this matte. I haven't looked at the backspacing, but is it going to work out? I have BMW wheels that I will use on my car until I can get the New Gens that I want and I am going to run an adapter to correct the backspacing, so my adapter will be 5x120 on the wheel side and 5x4.75 on the brake side.

I'm going to run the 18x9.5 with 20 mm offset. With a half inch spacer that should put me at 5.538 for backspace. From what I've read this should be what I need to get a 275 rear tire tucked in. I'll have to check once I get my rear end in though.

You linked to the 40mm offset wheel...but it sounds like you want to run the 20mm offset, is that correct? That still equates to a ~6" backspacing and then whatever other issues you run into with center bore size and wheel pattern.

As for the wheel pattern mismatch, the absolute positional difference of the studs from a 5x120 and 5x120.65 pattern is .3mm [.012"]. While that may not seem like much, basically it means you're increasing the stress on the wheel studs by about ~20% to ~25% IIRC due to adding a bending component to the loading scenario versus pure tension like it should be. Matt Jones of AME did a nice comparison in Solidworks/FEA showing a comparison of the von Mises stress distribution her on P-T.com and maybe Lat-g.net as well.

I may be bit of a stickler when it comes to this argument because the potential ramifications of losing a wheel can easily include those around you, not just yourself, but with that said, why not run a higher-offset version of the wheel and use adapters to convert the pattern and possibly accommodate the center bore, center cap, etc.? The second-gen F-body hub snout/spindle pins are long relative to the flange postion compared to most other applications, so they tend to be some of the more difficult with respect to wheel fitments.

I'm doing the same thing, except with ZR1 wheels, I'm running a 2 inch spacer out back and a 1.8~inch up front. I haven't driven it on the road yet, but it seems to be doing fine for the past year with light travel and just sitting at weight.

I appreciate everything you said. You've enlightened me a bit on the wheel pattern. I respect you bringing up other peoples safety, this is something I overlooked. I am not familiar with wheel spacers. Will the 40mm offset be enough offset to make up with a wheel spacer? If someone has links to these spacers that would be appreciated.
