Removable sub box?

Hey guys, I'll be building a sub box for my 1st gen Camaro over the winter and would like to be able to quickly remove it for Auto-X events. My plan is two 12's facing forward with 3 amps showing in the rear. Just looking to see if anyone has a slick setup for easy removal. I have built a few boxes in the past, and have all the tools at my disposal, but I'd welcome any pics of your trunk setup so I can start thinking about a design. Thanks.

I have a 68 Camaro and plan on running a single 13 inch JL slim sub. I am building a mounting plate that will attach to the spare tire well using the spare tire well as the enclosure. I plan on removing the sub for racing. I am thinking of a ring that surrounds the tire well and fastens to the car. The plate with the sub will bolt to it. Will probably have a gasket in between. The JL subs mounting depth is 2.5 inches. A 13.5" sub will move alot of air as well.
Just an idea.

Here is mine. I welded a couple brackets to the floor of the trunk and the sub box just bolts in place. 12" Kicker L5

I decided to build a custom box. I'm finished with the box and wiring, just need to mount it and build some closeout panels for the sides, but here's what I have done so far:

Here's the test fit of the carpeted box, I used the same cut-pile ACC carpet that I did for the trunk and interior:




And here's a shot of the box. I added spring loaded handles to both sides to aid in removal:




I'm also relocating the battery to the trunk while I'm at it:

actually what woud good if you had quick plugs on the amp and speaker leads and had a amp rack sub in one. be like a ghetto blaster kinda.

I'm running 3 amps, one for the subs, one for the fronts and another for the rears. I'd have to mount just the sub amp to the sub box otherwise you'd lose all your music whenever you pulled the subwoofer box. But then you'd need to disconnect the speaker leads, positive and negative cables and the remote turn on wire. I think that just complicates the process.

I mounted the subwoofers to the box and mounted the box to the trunk. I wanted to be able to easily remove the box incase I ever AutoX it. I would just need to unbolt four 1/4" bolts from the sides and slip it out. Finding a location for the brackets I fabricated turned out to be a challenge. The rear frame rails run right below Everywhere I wanted to attach them. The carpet on them isn't a perfect match but eventually I will build some panels to carry the ends of the box out to the quarters.

I finished up fabricating and installing the closeout panels for the trunk. I mocked them up with some cardboard first:




And then cut the panels out of luan:




To hold them in place I picked up a couple different automotive fasteners, and a weird rubber nut with a threaded end on one side and a boot on the other:




I cut a couple of blocks and drilled out for the rubber boot and wrapped them in carpet:




I attached the blocking with some 3" drywall screws:




I wanted to use the push button style fastener, but it didn't hold as well as the one with all the ridges. Here's one of the panels carepeted and installed:




I'm pretty happy with the look. Clean and fairly simple:

I added some grilles to the subs while I had it out of the Camaro (again). I'll probably look for something a little less rugged, but these will keep anything from puncturing the speakers in the mean time:

Nice set up, looks great and the battey being exposed looks clean and simple too
