cruise control setup on 5.3L

Well I would like to pick some ones brain that's smarter then me with this i was wondering how you guys have retro fit cruise control? I like the look of DBW throttle body was wondering where do I even start with this? Does a company such a Speartech (who i was thinking of going with for the harness) even incorporate this? Or do i have to go with a DBC to have cruise and use a dakota digital kit? Sorry if this confusing i'm just trying to think a few steps ahead so i know what i need to order.

What year 5.3 and what trans are you using?
Good news is that up to 07 with TAC modules have cruise control built in. The only additional wiring is the cruise control switches, you can use a GM stalk or Dakota Digital dash module, and the brake switch with NO and NC terminals.
If you're using an early trans without VSS, you'll need to rig something with enough pulses per mile for a stable signal. The Dakota Digital inline does not provide a high enough rate.
07 up motors need an aftermarket BCM.

the engine and trans both came out of a 2002 tahoe so its a 24X reluctor wheel the wiring harness was cut and screwed up beyond use by the time that i found it

Get the correct ecu, tac, pedal for the year/model of the motor.
You can mod your own harness or check on one of the aftermarket providers. If you go that route, tell them you want the cruise control wiring.

Does the GMPP LS2 controller have cruise control enabled functionality?

This site has info you need to get the cruise working on DBW w/TAC. Also has the info you need modify the stock harness into stand alone. You should be able to pick up stock harness for cheap of LS1tech, ebay, etc... I got ECU and harness last month for $150 off LS1Tech.

My understanding is the ecu for erod or standalone is locked and has no provision for cruise control.
There is a company now offering a cruise control add on for the GTO/Corvette LS2 ecu that normally operates thru the BCM.

There's someone over on LS1tech that's trying the spankys CC kit with an erod ecu. You might want to check on how they do.

What do you mean by locked? The E67 ECU's coming with those kits are fully tuneable with HP-tuners, EFI-live, etc.

Good to know. All the tuners I talked to when they came out was that due to emissions, no alterations were possible. That's why I went with stock GM used stuff. BTW, I dont do the tuning part.

Seeing as how alot of you guys did the swap your selves I went to a shop to ask there opinion and they recommended the speartech harness they figured that it would cost 5k if I got they to install motor trans and harness

Let me point out that I was primarily talking about the regular stand alone kits. Not sure 'bout the E-rod kit. It took some time for HPT and EFI-live to figure out how to tune the other/GMPP stand alone kits when they came out about 4-5 years ago but they are fully tuneable since a couple of years (about/at least 2-1/2 years, since that's when I did mine).
