      C5 Upgrade?

      Gents,

A couple years ago I went budget minded and did the B-body brake upgrade on my sec gen. It turned out to be a 12" rotor, with Wilwood Gen calipers, and Hawk brake pads. Now I'm contemplating C5 upgrade. Is there much to gain going 13" and a dual piston caliper of the C5?

There are several benefits to upgrading to the C5/C6 components, first and foremost the larger rotor, 12.79"x1.26" versus 11.88"x1.04". More thermal mass means lower operating temps, less severe temperature swings, etc combined with directional cooling vanes for ~20% more efficient cooling so they shed heat better as well. If you go with a kit with aluminum hubs, you'll actually be lighter than a factory setup with cast iron calipers...probably pretty similar to your current setup with the aluminum Wilwood calipers, but with a bigger rotor.
