      New guy from Ireland

      Hello all,

So I'm the latest newbie from all the way across the big pond, american muscle cars are a rare sight over here but they can be had if you know where to look..!! I'm a former owner of a '74 Chevelle and then a '82 Camero. Dont have anything american at the moment but if somthing comes along at the right price......

A couple of projects I'm working on at the moment include a 1980 Ford Capri I suppoose you guys would know it as a Mercury Capri but as far as I'm aware the Mk3 model I have was never sold in the US as your 3rd generation Capri was a rebadged mustang..??

The other project is a 3 door Ford Sierra I'm slowly converting into a Fast road/track car.

Daily drivers at the moment are a '92 Ford Sierra Cosworth 4x4 or a Mitsubishi L200 Truck depending on what I'm doing that day.

Welcome! Don't hesitate to post up your projects in the Project Updates section...both sound cool, and after all, they were built by an American company (which isn't a requirement; Pro Touring cars can be from anywhere).

I still have my 76 MkII Capri. There were over 500,000 MKI and MkII's sold in the US over their seven year run. You're correct- we never got the Mk III here- No 2.8i's either. I'm putting a 2.9 12v in mine, (I also have a 4.0 Cologne block that's s-l-o-w-l-y being rebuilt w/sandwich money) we never got the Cossie BOA's or BOB's over here. All the Sierra's we got ('86-'89) ran the Pinto derived Lima turbo 2.3, and Scorpions got the 2.9 12v

Assume your Mk III has a 3.0 Essex? Do post pics (May want to put them in the projects section)

Yes my Mk III Capri was one of the last to be fitted with the 3.0 Essex, The engine and auto box Have been sold on as I plan to fit a more modern V6 unit and a cosworth sourced T5 box. The Sierra project also had a V6 originally a 2.8i but again this and its box have been sold as I am currently building a 2.2 (134ci) Cosworth YB turbo motor for it.
