      Cool Side Exhaust tips

I want to run my exhaust out the side of the rocker panel just in front of the rear tire. I'm looking for some cool and different ideas.

Also if someone could point me into a direction of how to shape and make a custom exhaust.

      Thanks

I'm using tips from one of Spintrap's side-exit kits. They are slash cut, polished stainless. I believe Borla also makes several different tips - you might check out a Lightning pickup - I think they are using double Borla tips...

Just curious what brand mufflers you have there in the picture? I haven't found too many muffler company's/brands that offer the same side inlet/outlet mufflers like that.
I believe Spintech has them and Dr. Gas but they are unbelieveably expensive. Magnaflow has then also and while they are cheaper, they only come in Stainless Steel.
I'm looking at coming up with something like what you have posted for my '87.
      Thanks,

I'm using Dynomax Super Turbos. I picked these up at Summit for $49 each - part # WLK-17676, IIRC. I like them because they are quiet at cruise speeds, but ROAR when you get into it. In 5th gear at 70 mph, there's more wind noise than exhaust noise.

When researching, I looked at all the late-model Mustang side-exit choices - Borla, Bassani, Magnaflow, & Spintrap all make front in/out mufflers. Roush has used both Dynomax & Magnaflow.

Doing a total 180? Wouldn't that be kinda restictive?

I think it's a "who do you want to believe" thing. If you cut open most mufflers, there's plenty of bends and angles inside. My dynomax's do ONE 180*, as opposed to two...

The bend over the rear axle is pretty tight on most cars too...

Good Side exit / horsepower discussion on corral.net

Steeda claims HP GAIN compared to flowmaster over-the-axle.

I noted a performance gain, but I went from conventional 2.25", H-pipe, and rear exit to 2.5", X-pipe, & side-exit all at once...

      THANK YOU!!!!

I have been looking for this type of muffler for a long time and hadn't found anything that was in a decent price range. All I had found was the Magnaflow's and they were almost $100 each.

I currently have a pair of 3" Dynomax Welded Ultra-flo race mufflers on my '87 and love their sound. But I am going down in pipe size to 2.5" with an X-pipe and was a little concerned about the noise level of the side exit system. The super turbos should work great!
      Thanks,
      Andrew
